Terms of Service
Last updated 29 October 2026
Cosmonym is a free game: type a name, watch a world form, and claim it in a galaxy shared with everyone. By using it, you agree to these terms.
Your account
- You need to be at least 13 to create an account.
- Keep your sign-in details safe. You’re responsible for what happens on your account.
- One person, one account. Don’t create accounts to get around limits or bans.
Claiming worlds
- Each name holds exactly one world, and names are first come, first served.
- Claiming a world gives you the right to display it as yours on Cosmonym. It doesn’t give you ownership of the name outside the game, or any trademark rights.
- Worlds, explorer names, messages and star counts are public.
Keep the cosmos friendly
Don’t use names, messages or explorer names that:
- are hateful, harassing, threatening or discriminatory;
- are sexually explicit, or involve minors in any inappropriate way;
- impersonate a real person or organisation, or share someone’s private information;
- promote violence, self-harm or illegal activity;
- infringe someone else’s rights, or are spam or advertising.
Also don’t attack, overload, scrape or try to break the service, or automate claims and stars.
Moderation
We may remove worlds or messages, change explorer names, and suspend or delete accounts that break these rules, at our discretion and sometimes without notice. You can report anything that crosses the line with the Report button on any world.
The service
- Cosmonym is provided “as is”, without warranties. We work to keep it running, but can’t promise it will always be available or error-free.
- We may change, pause or end features, or the service, at any time.
- To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of Cosmonym.
Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time from Account in the menu. See the Privacy Policy for what happens to your data.
Changes
We may update these terms. If the changes are significant, we’ll update the date above and let signed-in explorers know. Continuing to use Cosmonym after that means you accept the new terms.
